G. Walton reproduction fireplace surround

A near-reproduction of a copper fireplace surround originally designed by Walton. The Voysey wrought iron fire basket is also a near reproduction, as the structure has been modified for wood-burning in Sag Harbor instead of coal-burning in Glasgow or London. The clock and mirror are originals; probably Walton's.

A very early project from 1998, Archive Designs created this near-reproduction of a copper fireplace surround originally designed by Scottish architect, George Walton (1867-1933).

The CFA Voysey wrought iron fire basket is also a near-reproduction, as the structure has been modified for wood-burning in Sag Harbor today, instead of coal-burning in Glasgow or London at the end of the 19th century. The clock and mirror in this photo are originals; probably Walton's. Careful emulation of both the forms and techniques of the original artist, and of the natural aging process of the materials, create a harmonious whole, for cozy harmonious evenings spent enjoying this room and a rousing fire.
