Large round table in white oak

Large round table, in quarter-sawn white oak. This particular table, of large diameter and able to seat five adults comfortably, is designed for the kitchen or dining room, where the family can gather around for an activity or meal. A smaller version could fit in any room. This piece is finished in hand-rubbed polyurethane: Although very labor intensive, this produces an even satin finish that is also very thin and does not obscure the wood grain, an effect difficult to attain with most other treatments. The darkness of the wood in this case is completely natural, arising from the age of the oak material itself. A lighter colored table would be possible by selecting lighter hued oak material.

Designed and crafted by our own master carpenter, Patrick Lucas. Although an original creation, this piece is inspired by the works of a number of Arts and Crafts masters, and in particular by the creative use of intersecting rectilinear planes by Charles P. Limbert (1854-1923), producing a highly attractive table with a tidy, uncluttered form.
