As designer, artist, and craftsman, my work has had a deep connection to both the physical manipulation of materials--within their properties and character, as well as to the process of concept in form, color, proportion, and joinery. It is the thoughtful and honest balance between these primary elements that I am intent on expressing in the work, regardless of scale.

Here we show how we dial in a new forge that we built on-site--with pizza! But what is the deeper symbolism of a pizza in a forge? What does it tell us about the deeper needs of the artist--both for sustenance and for spiritual enlightenment? Here I examine these pressing issue for the modern artist, and I hope you will explore this with me!

Does the hood fit between cabinets? How deep are the cabinets? Is there a soffit or does the hood need to go all the way to the ceiling? What kind of wood, stone or tile are you using in your kitchen? What other items will be around the hood?

These are questions your hood designer/fabricator should be asking you; in detail. That's one of the signs they're planning carefully, anticipating what you will have to deal with when it's time to install your new Arts & Crafts stove hood.

In the twenty-first century, the kitchen, as the new "heart & hearth" of the home (a title previously held by the more romantic inglenook fireplace) deserves to be as thoughtfully designed as any other room of the house.
